EFAC's Wezesha Funds represent strategic investment opportunities that support targeted areas of EFAC's program to effect maximum impact in a given field of interest. These funds cover everything from tuition not funded by the Sponsor Program to health care needs, digital and financial literacy workshops to professional mentoring programs and all of the other services and opportunities provided to an EFAC Scholar throughout their 8-year Wezesha Journey.

GENDER EQUITY FUND

EFAC’s model balances the need in Kenya to promote girl’s education and access to opportunity and include boys in the critical movement toward gender parity. Highlighting these efforts are that two-thirds of EFAC Scholars are girls and girls and boys have opportunity for gender-specific training and mentoring.

HEALTH & Wellness Fund

EFAC Scholars have access to mental health support and education on critical wellness practices in a safe space, so they can focus on the future and build a toolkit for navigating personal challenges. Topics, including reproductive health, are approached in an honest, factual and age appropriate manner. Students also receive routine testing and vaccinations during annual workshops. Many EFAC Scholars continue their studies in this field during post-secondary education.

Technology & Digital Access Fund

EFAC ensures that scholars have access, training and opportunity in the technology space. Beginning in high school, students are provided with the tools they need to stay connected to their school and EFAC communities, allowing them to integrate and hone 21st century skills, access academic advancement apps and receive support from to staff and mentors. Many EFAC Scholars continue their studies in this field during post-secondary education.

Career Preparation & Resource Center Fund

Workshop modules that focus on soft skills, such as leadership and communication, prepare students for their careers in any field. Employment panels throughout the year allow opportunities to hear about the latest trends and best practices in navigating the job market. Students also have opportunities to meet with EFAC staff at the Resource Center to polish their resumes and participate in job shadowing and internships in their field of interest.

Continuing Education & Professional Development Fund

Supporting EFAC Scholars as they prepare to start their careers to have a competitive skill set, or honing skills to get to the next level, is paramount to their success. From funding certificates in software development to sales and marketing training courses to tertiary studies, EFAC is providing the tools alumni need to excel in their careers once they have decided on a specialty.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation Fund

EFAC supports critical thinking and creative problem solving skills during workshops and creates spaces and provides resources and supports for those who opt for an entrepreneurial career. A highlight of the Bridge-to-College workshop is the Design Thinking module and scholars interested in exploring further have opportunities to take formal entrepreneurship training and receive funding for their business plans.
