How Do I Apply for an EFAC Scholarship?

EFAC’s foundation is providing scholarships for qualifying students to attend secondary and post-secondary school in Kenya beginning in Form 1 only. EFAC’s admissions criteria include the following:

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong leadership potential, and a commitment to serving your community

  • KCPE score of 370 or above

Please do not request funding for primary school, university, diploma or other programs. Post-secondary scholarships are only available to current EFAC Scholars who complete high school with EFAC.

Annual Application Timeline:

  1. February-April: Application forms are available from the EFAC Office in Nairobi or via mail by request. Contact the EFAC Kenya office for an application. Students must apply with an official copy of the EFAC Application (not a photocopy), fill in the applications on their own, and mail them to the EFAC office. Note: We do not distribute or accept electronic copies of applications.

  2. July 31st: Applicants are due to the EFAC office. Late applications will not be considered. Applicants are encouraged to be as thorough and detailed as possible.

  3. August-September: Applications are ranked by the EFAC scholarship team and candidates are shortlisted for Interviews.

  4. December: EFAC conducts interviews with shortlisted applicants. The interview does not guarantee a scholarship, but provides EFAC more information for consideration of each candidate. If you do not hear from EFAC to schedule an interview, you can consider your application unsuccessful.

  5. January: Performance on the KCPE is the final piece in the selection process. The minimum mark to qualify is 370 (may vary at times based on general performance). Selections are made once KCPE scores are received from students so the application is considered complete. Successful applicants are notified via SMS after KCPE results are announced and before the official Form 1 reporting date.
